Safeguarding policy
Our commitment to protecting children and adults at risk in our work in the UK and Bangladesh, and how to report a concern.
Last updated 4 November 2026
Our commitment
The Fatema Foundation CIO works with families who may be vulnerable because of poverty, age, illness or circumstance. Everyone who comes into contact with our work has the right to be safe from harm, abuse and exploitation. Our trustees are responsible for making sure we take every reasonable step to protect them.
Who this applies to
This policy applies to our trustees, volunteers, partners and anyone carrying out work on our behalf, in the UK and in Bangladesh.
What we do
- Treat everyone we support with dignity and respect, regardless of background or belief.
- Never take part in, or tolerate, abuse or exploitation of any kind.
- Take care with photographs and video: we ask permission before filming or photographing people, and we do not identify vulnerable individuals without consent.
- Choose partners carefully and expect them to keep people safe too.
- Take every concern seriously, act on it promptly and keep records confidential.
- Report concerns to the police, local authority or the Charity Commission where required.
How to report a concern
If you are worried that someone is at risk because of our work, or about the behaviour of anyone connected with the Foundation, contact our Chair of Trustees:
- Email: [email protected] (mark it “Safeguarding”)
- Phone: 07522 189323
If someone is in immediate danger in the UK, call 999.
Review
The trustees review this policy every year.
