Privacy policy

How The Fatema Foundation CIO collects, uses and protects your personal information, and the rights you have over it.

Last updated 4 November 2026

Who we are

The Fatema Foundation CIO (“we”, “us”) is a registered charity in England and Wales, number 1213106. Our registered address is 42 High Street, Wanstead, London E11 2RJ. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

Questions about this policy or your data: email [email protected] or call 07522 189323.

What we collect

  • Donations: your name, email address, the amount and date of your gift, whether it is Zakat, and whether it is one-off or monthly.
  • Gift Aid: if you make a Gift Aid declaration, your name and home address, which HMRC requires.
  • Enquiries and sign-ups: the details you enter in our contact, volunteer, fundraising and corporate partnership forms.
  • Website use: basic technical information needed to run the website securely.

Card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number.

Why we use it

  • To process your donation and send you a receipt (to perform our agreement with you).
  • To claim Gift Aid from HMRC (legal obligation).
  • To track Zakat separately and distribute it appropriately (legitimate interests).
  • To reply to your enquiry or arrange volunteering or fundraising (legitimate interests, or steps you have asked us to take).
  • To send you updates about our work, only if you have agreed (consent).

Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the charity, such as our payment processor and email provider, with HMRC for Gift Aid claims, or where the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep donation and Gift Aid records for as long as HMRC and charity law require. We keep enquiry and volunteer details for as long as we need them to respond and stay in touch, then delete them.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to withdraw consent at any time and to receive a copy in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email us.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
