Gift Aid questions
Who can claim Gift Aid?
You can Gift Aid your donation if you are a UK taxpayer and the Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax you pay in the tax year is at least as much as all the charities you support will reclaim. If you pay less, it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
Does Gift Aid cost me anything?
No. Gift Aid is tax you have already paid, which HMRC passes to the charity. Your donation stays the same and the Fatema Foundation receives 25% more.
Can I add Gift Aid to Zakat?
Yes, as long as you meet the Gift Aid conditions. Tick the Gift Aid box when you give your Zakat and we will claim the extra 25p for every £1.
What if my circumstances change?
Tell us if you stop paying enough tax, change your name or address, or want to cancel your declaration. Email [email protected] and we will update our records.
I pay higher-rate tax. Can I claim more?
Yes. Higher and additional rate taxpayers can claim the difference between their rate and the basic rate on their donations, usually through a Self Assessment tax return.
